My applicant is under 18 but married, emancipated, or an unaccompanied youth. Do they still need a parent or guardian signature?

No. Portal asks applicants under 18 whether they are married, legally emancipated, or qualify as an unaccompanied youth under the McKinney-Vento Act. If the applicant answers Yes, they are not asked to designate a signatory or provide additional contacts and no signature request is sent.

You are still responsible for collecting and verifying the documentation that supports the exception and uploading it to the case. See Support with Application Submission for the documentation required for each exception.
