What should I do if I can’t open documents in the Gateway?

If you encounter a “webauth.jobcorps.org refused to connect” error while attempting to opening documents in the Gateway, it means your default app settings may need to be adjusted to utilize Adobe Acrobat/Reader for PDF files. Please follow the directions below before reaching out to the MyJobCorps Help Center for assistance.

  1. Go to settings (it looks like a cog on a Windows computer).
  2. Select Apps.
  3. Click on “Default apps.” Note: You can skip steps 1-3 by searching “default apps” in the Windows search bar.
  4. Select “Choose apps by file type”.
  5. Scroll down to .pdf and click on the app on the right. Select Adobe Acrobat Reader or Adobe Acrobat.
  6. Restart your computer and try to view the files again.

If you receive this error after you update your settings, you may need to go through steps 1-6 again. There is a known issue with Windows computers where the settings revert back to their original settings. If you still can’t view the files, contact the JCDC Technical Assistance Center.
