MyJobCorps Admissions Spotlight

This month, we’re spotlighting Madeline Bradfield, an Outreach and Admissions Manager from Loring JCC. Her three-person team operates out of a rural area in Maine and have found the MyJobCorps online application to be invaluable. Because of it, they are now able to process more applications daily and complete most of the applications virtually.

Madeline recommends requesting documents needed for the background check as early as possible. A helpful tip: Madeline’s team created email and text templates to send to applicants, with instructions for how to upload documents.

Do you have a success story or tips you’d like to share in a future newsletter? Let us know!

MyJobCorps System Features: Reminders & Tips

Check out these tips for using MyJobCorps based on commonly asked questions:

  • Background Check Status:

    • New! The Applicant Identification Number (AIN) is a unique ID assigned to every applicant and can be used to track a background check’s status with JACS. Tip: You can search cases by AIN in the All Cases view and use this ID when communicating with JACS about a background check. Unlike the Application Tracking Number (ATN), which tracks the specific case, the AIN is assigned based on the applicant's Social Security Number (SSN).

    • Reminder: Track the status of your request so you know when to expect the result. Check out the Request Background Checks user guide to see what each status means and tips to resolve an inconclusive result from JACS.

  • Readmissions Check – Assessing Duplicate Cases:

    • The Readmissions Check is used to determine if an individual has been admitted to Job Corps previously or has an active case in MyJobCorps. If so, Admissions staff will now see more case data displayed on the Readmissions Check, including ATN, case status, and milestone details to help identify potential duplicates. Gateway will also flag if a background check has already been requested, based on the applicant’s SSN, and prevent further submissions within 120 days, to help reduce rejections by JACS.

    • If you need a refresher, review the list of actions needed in the Perform Readmissions Check and Assess Duplicate Cases user guides.

  • The Arrival Report is now available in Gateway under the Reports tab. Admissions staff can use this report to track real-time updates for students who have arrived on center. Note: This report will not include separation data. CORs can obtain this data in reports found in CIS and EIS to supplement what’s available in MyJobCorps. For example, the Master Student Separation report in EIS.

Manager Corner

  • Staff Onboarding Guidance: Center staff must submit a request for the MyJobCorps account prerequisite via the ID Auto Form. If you experience any issues, reach out to the JCDC TAC at helpdesk-jcdc-tac@jobcorps.org. Once the ID Auto request is processed, you can request the MyJobCorps account through the Contact Us form.

  • Staff Offboarding Guidance: If a staff member is leaving Job Corps, please re-assign all cases and notify the MyJobCorps team of the departure through the Contact Us form to ensure their account is deactivated.

Pet of the Month

Kowalski, an 8-year-old husky, has been a blessing to Carrie Pederson (New Haven JCC) and her husband since the moment he was born. He was born in their home along with his four siblings after the Pedersons rescued his abandoned mom. When the puppies were born, they looked more like penguins than husky, so they were named after the penguins of Madagascar.

Kowalski spends his days chasing geese, impressing strangers with his charm and friendliness, going for walks on the beach with his fur-friends, and rescuing red-tailed hawks.

Send your pet photo submissions and a brief description to: MyJobCorps@Dol.gov

Meet Your Furry Friend, Kowalski!
